MacDonald’s Big Tasty
There the poster was showing some humongous burger with tomatoes. A Big Tasty it said for £4.99 with bacon. That’s pretty pricy for a burger; it just looks like a normal one but with a couple of tomatoes added and bacon. Bit of a risk paying a fiver for on of those. But maybe it is super special and tastes all kinds of amazing? Like the nirvana of burgers, the cream of the crop, the burger sent down from the heavens? Nah can’t be, the description is too vague. 99p cheeseburger please.
Next time, the poster is still there unchanged, I don’t now though, I don’t want to just buy a quarter pounder with tomatoes and bacon, and bacon is a very hit and miss food these days, too stringy too hard. But hmm maybe, maybe it is the best thing that will ever happen in my life, maybe the Big tasty is a kick in the mouth, a soft marshmallow kick which doesn’t hurt at all, it just hits you hard. Maybe, but ah five pounds is a little pricy, but I swear the poster winked at me then. No one else seems to be ordering it. Is it a failure? It is isn’t it, no one wants it because it is just a cheese burger with cheese. And bacon.
The third time was when I finally asked what the burger was. The description I was given was a little poor, just a bigger burger with bacon. And a special sauce, possibly of barbeque origin. Hmm, he didn’t sell it very well yet if I say no and ask for something else it looks like I was a time waster, a wasting time person who just wanted to tease about the posters description because it was something new for my eyes. So I said yes, a two-minute wait they say. Now I know they have to prepare me one up from the golden section of MacDonald’s, delivering a burger which will make my mouth go to heaven.
The box was pretty plain, yet pretty big. The burger looked just like it did in the adverts if you squint a bit. As I went to take a bite, then it hit me. I don’t actually like tomatoes, so away they went. Now the tomatoes which seem to stand out the most as the burgers main new feature out the way, what could possibly be left? The bacon and the special sauce, I bit. And it was good, oh so good, I could feel the warmth zigzag around through my mouth before hitting the throat. It was just a burger from MacDonald’s, but bigger with a compliment of bacon and sauce from a Big Mac. Yet after eating it, after finishing it off till all that was left were the two poor slices of tomato I didn’t want, I was satisfied. Five pounds satisfied, I do not know, but it was good.
So what is the Big Tasty in one sentence? A bigger burger with some bacon on top, is that enough? Is that what you want? Go on try it, try not to try it!
