We Are The Superlative Conspiracy – Alp Horn
I haven’t seen much on Alp Horn on the net. I’ve seen Alp Horn but not too many opinions on Alp Horn. I don’t really know my way round headphone review sites though so I am probably missing a huge selection of detailed and accurate impressions. I just don’t do Google too well. But I’ve bought a pair due to falling in love on how cool they look on Amazon and I can give you the ultimate verdict with my limited headphone tech lingo!
Look pretty… different right? Rectangle shaped headphones are the new circle though I don’t see many headphone types replicating this unique style. It has a very plastic feel though the top head part is comfy round the head or neck, I really like the huge size, shows your now playing with power! The silver rectangles with the logo on twist and turn slightly so you can get them just right on your ears and the numbers on the side are for adjusting the other head strap inside for those with smaller heads. It is a really smart piece of kit though I think the silver could scratch easily if not carefully, at a guess. But they get full points for the looks.
In a slightly distant gaze you can see what they look like from the front. I have a new-found habit in which I just can’t look at the camera, the flash will turn me to stone. As you can see the rectangle ear parts are real huge, they may smother small ears but the sound quality is excellent. I had a previous pair of Wesc headphones, Bongo I think and while they were loud and awesome these Alp Horns seem to control the mangle of noise. Everything feels a lot crisper and clearer, they perhaps aren’t as loud-sounding as the lower priced models but the quality is far better. It did take me a couple of days to get used to a slightly far away sound in comparison to Bongo but now I’m struggling to go back. Faith No More just sounds too good now, the screams of Jizzlobber sound nice and separated from the heavy metal.
It also comes with a long wire the same as Bongo. Long detachable wire at that which is great as you can choose if you want the distance from whatever you are sticking the headphones into to be long or short. I also still have my old pair of WESC headphones so I can chain that extension wire to make a super wire which is good for late night TV viewing from the bed.
Round the neck look! You can see the hugeness clearer here but I think they look really cool around the neck and you can adjust the big rectangles for neck storage. You can’t clamp both together to make a super rectangle which is a little disappointing but they still look awesome and the neck part around the back is so comfy! Usually when I put headphones round the neck I get that cold shiver of plastic touching skin much like when I put glasses on for the first time in the day but these are different. They melt into the back and the only sensation is that of love, maybe a great pair of glasses could give off the same sensation when put on?
The headphones also come in multiple colours. There are red which look a bit cheap in images, blue which I nearly went for and these classy brown and silver. The blue and brown are certainly the best colours out of the three I’ve seen though I chose brown because they contrast with what I wear and I already own some blue headphones. Getting red may have matched a pair of my trainers though.
Lastly on the side and enough about colour preference I’m sure they all look great in the flesh!
Alp Horn are a great if pricy per of headphones. £145 RRP but HMV have them for around £80 at the moment. Style usually sacrifices quality but I think these have both. I don’t know my headphone lingo though so I don’t know if the thingy output or thingy input and the bass lines are comparable to other thingys. Let’s just say I can have my music loud and clear and think I look awesome while doing so.
