Not music to shuffle to, in the mp3 player way anyway, and the daytime breaks the mood. Midnight, low light, sleep tight, Radiohead. The King of Limbs fits neatly with Kid A and In Rainbows for those otherworldly night-time moments.
I prepared myself and let the vision they formed flow. The experimental sounds as unique as ever, but it never lifted off to In
Rainbows and Kid A standards. Maybe on the numerous listens I still couldn’t grasp the feel of the complete whole. It didn’t feel as refreshing as usual, and lacking the killer tracks which compliment the pieces that serve to weave it all together. I still get the feeling as if I’ve been absorbed by the music and plunged into an unknown world, there is nothing to gripe about when it comes to the general quality of the music. ‘Lotus Flower’ stands out the most to me, it set me free.
I love the imagery on the CD packaging, the black and white drifting creatures and curly trees, can totally see them moving around in the mind as the tracks play. Would make for an excellent game, like Limbo with more electronica. They have a good taste in games too (from Braid to Zelda), so maybe it could happen. One day in the far off future.
