My Health 2010: Hospital Experience

Ooh ahhhhh. I feel pretty strange, one huge plaster which looks like a white comedy mustache is slapped to my face and another is stuck on my hand. I have so many pills, sprays and plasters to use over the next few weeks I’m a little lost and I keep nodding in and out of dream land thanks to the anesthetic. But I’m alright! Continue reading

Health regime

I got ill. Me getting ill isn’t a surprise to anyone I know really. When I say I’m ill they just tilt their head to the right and go ‘you’re always ill!’ So when I’m ill there isn’t any real concern. That just seems to be a character trait of mine. If this was a comic I’d be the one sneezing all the time and bedridden, once some hero, now some loser taking aspirin twice a day. Someone vows to make me better but I snuff it with some depressing final words which give the main character some motive or something, or just some side character even. Such is the life of being an ill hero in a story. If I was the villain I’d probably do well till my final fight though and lose to my illness rather than the hero besting me. Isn’t that always such a cop-out? Ye- *cough* *gack!* *dies* Continue reading

Wii Fit

Format:  Nintendo Wii
Players: 1
Genre: Fitness

I am not going to buy into this casual rubbish! I said. But things change and stuff like this feels more important to me than a new Mario game (Really!). I was ready to get fit and because I couldn’t afford the gym here in Liverpool Wii Fit would suffice.
It is a fitness program rather than a game. It goes on and on about perfect balance and how if you stand funny bad things will happen down the road of life. Upon my first go my balance was just slightly to the right, my BMI expected of my height as was my weight, ideal it tells me. What is in it for me then as I can’t really make a target as I’m slap bang in the middle of good health according to the game. Then I checked my Wii Fit age… 40. Ouch.
The Wii Fit age is what gave me incentive to play, you do a couple of mini games each day and it comes up with an age, the close you are to your own age the better. But it won’t be long before you learn the few task games on offer and that age you want is acquired. I think if you are under or over weight according to the game you won’t lose or gain much, I played it for an hour each day for a month and didn’t see any significant change. Continue reading

My Health July 09

Over the last month I’ve had a bit of a cough, not a painful cough but a cough which likes to pop up in the morning and at night to give me some irritation. A ticklish cough which either results in phlegm or wheezing coming from the throat, eurgh. After a month mind I figured I should get it checked out, don’t want it to be something serious like swine flu or something!

After discussing my problems with the doctor and many questions about smoking (for the record I don’t smoke or take drugs) and after prodding about told me I had asthma. Not really a surprise that, when I was around eight till about fourteen I had asthma and I just kind of grew out of it. But now here I was back with a pair of inhaler’s to set me straight, feels almost nostalgic though these inhalers are different to my old. I always did find that strange when I was younger, my inhalers you just had to shake and suck and looked like chunky whistles while everyone else had strange L shaped one in which you press a capsule and breath in. I have the latter now, it is probably for a different type of asthma maybe. After a few puffs already I can feel a difference, like a tunnel of air is suddenly in my throat making things clear. Hasn’t stopped the coughing up of phlegm mind but I guess it will take a few days and some added vitamin C. Continue reading
