Release Date: 4th November 2010

Shonen Jump/Viz Media

Fifty Three volumes in and we finally learn the truth of what happened on the day of Naruto’s birth. Foxes will be summoned, tears will be shed, and the Fourth Hokage will show off how much of a badass he is. The start of demon taming and flashback stories is upon us. Ya know!

It starts with the battle to control the Nine Tails Demon Fox. Naruto now buddies with the cheesy rapper Eight Tails host Killer Bee, sets out to control his inner demons. First his dark side, second, the fox. This battle within the mind is like a firework display, moves thrown and exploding like a top quality batch. Those Rasengans sure are pretty when rubbing against the giant fox’s body. The battle shows off Naruto’s growth and new-found spirited will, though it does seem a little one-sided. The Nine Tails is meant to be the most terrifying monster in the world! Like a little pussy cat here.

With the battle to tame the beast in control, and a rather sweet looking design for powered up Naruto, we move onto the tale of Naruto’s birth. Seems Naruto is keeping more than the spirit of his father, a fox, a crow and a frog in there. We finally meet his mother Kushina, and what a great character she is. With the same catchphrase, ya know, and an aggressive never give up attitude, she is just like our badly dressed hero. The story reveals some juicy information and links Madara into the whole ordeal, it seems Naruto has a personal reason to knock his block off now.

Volume fifty-three goes from flashy fights to moving family tales. With Naruto his goofy old self and the story revealing some big secrets, it seems the wake up call was much-needed. Ya know!
