I hate ponies and horses. It’s their big teeth, fist sized eyes and slobbery lips. But girls love them and I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because they’ll all been playing with the White Pony which has recently galloped into my life. I love my White Pony. Its eyes aren’t so big.
White Pony moved further away from the heavy metal sound which was prominent on Deftone’s début Adrenaline, though ‘Elite‘ and ‘Korea‘ bare the bands teeth, and continued down the path of beautiful melancholy electronic with a tint of heartfelt wailing. It’s much like sinking into a ‘Digital Bath‘, submerging to the bottom to take in the dark and detached fantasy of the lyrics with no desire to surface and allow it to wash away. It’s often beautiful, painfully emotive and turns the heat up before things get too mellow. Electronic metal which avoids being to Nu. I could float here forever.
An album to listen to when you want to take up riding lessons and gallop (far away) without any of the shit to deal with.
